Holiday Brass Spectacular Schermerhorn Symphony Center Concert reviews
Phantom - always wonderful
The male cast was incredible - from Phantom and Raoul to Piangi and Mnsr's Firmin and Andre. Full voiced, well animated, and a pure joy to watch. This is my favorite show of all time, a bit of a Holiday Brass Spectacular snob. We went to a Saturday Matinee, and had the 'optional' Christine; her voice was far more suited for Carlotta - a bit too operatic for Christine... vibrato way too strong. Hard to tell the difference between her rendition and Carlotta's when hearing "Think of Me". A fabulous show overall. My children are already begging me to go again!
The souvenirs are rather reasonable - we picked up the silver Phantom lapel pins for $5 each and tote bags for $20 each as well as the musical score highlights for $22! FUN! La Carlotta was played by the woman who has the longest running record of any player in a part for Phantom... she was perfect. She was, however, a wonderful actress.
Enjoy! Oh - and a bit of a bonus: I hear this theater company will be involved in the Grand Reopening Gala of the City of Prescott Elks Opera House - that will be a show I won't want to miss!
